Savin Engineers, P.C. provided structural and electrical design services for the rehabilitation of the historic Carousel and Derby Racer at Rye Playland.

After experiencing significant fire damage, the roof of the existing Carousel required major rehabilitation and replacement of timber roof framing. Structural design included temporary shoring of existing framing elements, including timber columns and timber tension rings, and replacement of timber roof girders and lamella framing. Electrical design included replacement of all conduit, wiring and lighting fixtures damaged by the fire, as well as upgrades to select existing electrical components.

The Derby Racer included structural design for rehabilitation of existing structural framing elements, including all existing timber columns. This entailed temporary shoring with a detailed sequence of construction to replace the existing timber column with a new structural steel column. Structural and electrical design was also performed for the implementation of new motorized roll-up doors for protection and security.
