Savin Engineers assisted the Monticello school district with identifying work that could be included in an energy performance contract, facilitating the EPC process, and in coordinating the installation of the energy performance projects with an EXCEL infrastructure improvements project.

The scope of work included in the energy performance contract included upgrades and replacements of HVAC systems such as air handlers and unit ventilators, replacing boilers and associated components, water heaters, circulation pumps and zone valves; water and sewer piping upgrades, electrical and lighting improvements, adding a wind turbine, and replacing exterior doors. Replacing the fire alarm systems and improvements to science classrooms and labs was included as part of the EXCEL project.

Services provided began with assistance with the design process, and with all the requirements necessary to obtain State Education Department approval. Services provided during implementation of the energy projects and during construction included coordination, quality control and auditing.
