When the Monticello Central School District needed a construction management firm to accelerate the implementation of an energy performance contract work and work through New York State's EXCEL program, Savin Engineers was selected. The services related to the EXCEL renovation project included fire safety systems, technology upgrades, and mechanical and electrical improvements. Projects were phased to address the most immediate needs first, such as the replacement of oil tanks.

Integrated with the EXCEL infrastructure improvement project were energy performance initiatives. The scope of work emphasized sustainable energy. A new wind generator was installed to supplement the electricity at the High School. The wind generator was installed to assist in the district's education program.
