Yonkers Engine Rehabilitation
Personnel from Savin Engineers' MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing) team were responsible for a $10 million design rehabilitation project for engines at a Westchester County Department of Public Works facility located in the city of Yonkers. The design included the rehabilitation of two existing 1,700 Hp dual-fuel (digester gas/diesel) engines, blowers, high speed gears, and associated auxiliary equipment. The design and installation of new chopper pumps and digester gas boosters, piping for primary digester mixing, and new sludge heat exchangers was also included in the scope of services provided by Savin Engineers personnel. In addition, Savin provided Construction Management services to the County of Westchester Department of Public Works from start-up through completion and closeout of this project. The design of more energy-efficient systems to replace the existing systems resulted in significant cost savings for the owner with regard to the high power costs associated with the outdated electric motor driven blowers that had been in operation. |
