Lake Street Pumping Station
The majority of the Village of Harrison's potable water supply was obtained through a 1 MGD pumping station located in the Harrison, in lower Westchester County, New York. Built circa 1958, the Lake Street Pump Station pumped raw water from Rye Lake via two vertical turbine pumps, and served a relatively low pressure zone. To serve a higher pressure zone, a new force main and storage tanks were necessary. Modifications to the systems pumping capacity were also necessary to achieve greater flows and higher pressures. Savin Engineers performed preliminary evaluations and field investigations, provided preliminary and final design services, and prepared final contract documents for the potable water pumping station. Final design included the replacement of an existing 60 hp turbine pump with a new 100 hp pump, a booster pumping station with two horizontal split case pumps, and force main modifications and associated appurtenances. The system design also included two new pressure reducing valves and modifications to existing PRV’s in order to insure all zones are serviced. |
