Yonkers Joint Treatment Plant Sludge Dewatering Facility
As a first step towards the elimination of ocean dumping of sewage sludge, Westchester County initiated the design and construction of a new Sludge Dewatering Facility in the City of Yonkers located in lower Westchester County, New York.
Working as a sub consultant to Blasland & Bouck Engineers, Savin Engineers designed a new polymer make-up and feed system, odor control system and other facilities for this $14 million project. The polymer system was designed for flexibility. The system can use both dry and emulsion type polymer, and can send a wide range of polymer solutions to the high rate centrifuge system. The odor control system consists of a mist scrubber tower and a carbon absorber designed to act independently or in series. |
