Yonkers CSO - Phase IV - V

Savin Engineers provided construction management services for the Yonkers Joint Treatment Plant in lower Westchester County, New York, one of the largest swirl concentrator facilities on the East Coast. The scope of work for this project included the construction of two 22-foot diameter swirl concentrators, chlorine contact tanks, replacement of 1200 linear feet of trunk sewer with 60-inch diameter PCCP, installation of an odor control system and appurtenant equipment, including mechanical bar screens, underflow pumping, and HVAC equipment. Because the swirl concentrators and CSO (Combined Sewer Overflow) treatment facilities are located within an existing headworks building at the Yonkers Joint Treatment Plant, a critical element of the project was to maintain plant flows and the integrity of existing structures during construction. As Construction Manager, Savin Engineers provided resident engineering and construction inspection services, as well as coordination of the four prime contracts. This $11 million project was completed in December of 1995 - on time and under budget.
