Croton Point Park Water Distribution System

Situated on a peninsula overlooking the Hudson River, Croton Point Park is a 500-acre recreational facility in the Westchester County Parks system offering a pool and a beach, hiking trails, picnic areas, ball fields, a boat launch, fishing, and a nature center. In order to restore Croton Point Park to its full function, the installation of a new water distribution system extending the water main throughout the park was necessary. Savin Engineers provided complete evaluation, analysis, preliminary design, final design, and construction management services for this project involving several hundred thousand feet of water distribution system. This included initial flow and pressure testing of hydrants and other devices in the system, development of detailed computer models, analysis of several improvement alternatives to minimize costs and detailed design of the water system. Design included 4", 6", and 8 inch mains with 1" and 2 inch service lines, meter pits, valve vaults, hydrants, road crossings, utility crossings, and restoration of surfaces. Secondary lines were also designed and installed for existing and future facilities. A new underground high voltage electrical system and a new telephone system were installed as part of the project.
