Long Beach Public Schools
To maintain compliance with NY State Education Department requirements, the Long Beach Public Schools enlisted the services of an architectural firm and Savin Engineers to assist them with the development of a Master Facilities Plan. A comprehensive analysis of the building systems and physical spaces of the district's five elementary schools, middle school, and high school - all of which are 50+ years of age - unveiled close to $350 million in required work to address educational and building infrastructure needs. Savin then assisted the district with the prioritization of these needs in order to develop a fiscally prudent list of projects intended to address the most urgent building and core educational needs. A $98.9 million preservation plan developed to address long-standing health and safety challenges, code deficiencies, ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) deficiencies, building deterioration, and substandard instructional spaces, was approved by voters.
Efforts have been made to include sustainable construction in all aspects of the project. |
