This 4 mgd plant receives water from the Amawalk Reservoir and provides complete treatment including aeration, flocculation, clarification, filtration, and disinfection by chlorination. Filter back wash and clarifier sludge removed from the treated water receives treatment in settling and sludge lagoons by the natural freezing/drying process.
Savin personnel were involved in upgrading this facility to 7 mgd, including the design of a new sludge handling facility and chemical feed systems. The sludge handling facility design was comprised of two centrifuge units, a thickened sludge holding tank, a centrate tank, and sludge/centrate transfer equipment.
Chemical feed systems include Alum, Sodium Aluminate, Sodium Hydroxide, Potassium Permanganate, Flouride and Polymer. Design included new storage/transfer equipment complete with flow pacing instrumentation. In addition, the chlorination system was upgraded. Design included the sizing and selection of two remote vacuum solution feed chlorinators complete with vacuum regulating valves, solution distribution panel, vacuum switches and pressure relief valves.
