Railroad 1 Landfill is an 18 acre, lined, capped, closed municipal landfill located in Croton-on-Hudson, New York. It was operational from 1980-1982. Capping was completed in 1986.
The gas collection system upgrade involved installation of 15 gas extraction wells with depths of up to 60 ft. and 2,000 lf of 6-8 inch HDPE pipe to deliver the Landfill Gas to the adjacent landfill’s gas combustion system. Work included demolition of the existing temporary flare system, 40mil. PVC liner repair, erosion control, surface restoration and modifications to the main flare’s combustion system.
Savin was responsible for on-site resident inspection, QA/QC, shop drawing review, including review of the contractor’s Safety, Health and Emergency Response Program, processing of payments, change orders, progress meetings and maintaining project schedule. Duties included ensuring that all materials and equipment used were in accordance with specifications, the measurement of placed fill and removal of solid waste quantities.
