Bordering the Belt Parkway to the North, Jamaica Bay to the South and located within the sensitive Gateway National Recreational Area, the Pennsylvania and Fountain landfills together cover approximately 400 Acres of landfill area. Together these landfills represent one of the largest hazardous waste sites in New York State.

Savin Engineers, P.C. designed gas collection and combustion systems for the 100 acre Pennsylvania Avenue landfill and the 300 Acre Fountain Avenue landfill. This included design analysis reports, contract drawings, technical specifications and cost estimates. The combined systems included approximately 300 gas extraction wells of up to 110 feet in depth and 3 feet in diameter, over 105,000 feet of 6,8,12 and 16 inch diameter HDPE collection piping, 2 independent, enclosed gas flare stations, valve chambers, and appurtenances. Savin prepared all required gas combustion system permitting documents in accordance with NYCRR Part 360, EPA 40CFR Part 60, and NYCDEP requirements.
