Technical Challenges & Solutions to Meet Stringent LI Sound Compliance Deadlines

Vendors for BNR and UV disinfection technologies have distinct design requirements and process layouts that impact the way these items are designed and accommodated at a particular plant. Using the Long Island Sound project as a case study, Joe Fiteni discussed how these vendor requirements and processes made it difficult to meet the stringent compliance deadlines on the Long Island Sound project. Mr. Fiteni illustrated how the standard design-bid-build approach, which requires numerous designs, resulting in large design costs and lengthy design schedules was not a viable option for this client because of the compliance deadlines; provided details of the design challenges encountered when preparing the contract specifications, and gave an overview of the contract approach implemented by Savin to meet the client's needs.
